RobotEye stars at VISION 2012 in Stuttgart
Monday, 3 December 2012
The collaboration between Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) and Ocular Robotics Limited (ASSOB: OCR) at the VISION 2012 tradeshow in Stuttgart, was the star demonstration of the exhibition.
The demonstration involved the RobotEye RE01 Vision system using an AVT GT1920 camera mounted on a mock up of a Mars Rover in a Martian landscape. Visitors were able to appreciate the extreme speed and precision the RobotEye brings to vision system pointing by viewing the demonstration, but also to have a hands on experience using the head mounted display (HMD).
Visitors to the stand could see the RobotEye monitoring the position of four "aliens" in the landscape with such precision, that many did not believe the images were being updated on the screen, until the motion in the background of the scene was pointed out.
In another phase of the demonstration, visitors were able to view the Martian landscape from the perspective of the rover through the RobotEye, by wearing a head mounted display (HMD) provided by Rockwell Collins.
The Company reports that the collaboration with camera partner AVT was a resounding success, with strong interest and enquiry about the RobotEye systems. Visitors to the stand frequently commented that it was the best demonstration at the show. Ocular Robotics also greatly appreciates the resources that AVT brought to this demonstration and the hospitality shown to the Company during the show.
In addition to the show itself, the demonstration and the RobotEye vision systems continue to receive exposure through conventional and social media coverage such as those below:
- Intending visitors to the show were warmed up with this AVT Pre Show Press Release
- The current Allied Vision TV has video of the activities on the AVT Stand at VISION 2012
- Coverage by Vision Systems Design has Ocular's Dave Wood explaining why we chose AVT as our camera partner
- A lengthy video interview in German with AVT's Jean-Philippe Roman by Industrielle Automation with a significant piece on the VISION 2012 demonstration from around 7:25 in.
